Head of School
“Growing up five minutes away, I was a City Academy kid before City Academy existed. My story is their story and that’s one of the biggest reasons I want to be a part of this community.”
Jarrett Young joined the City Academy team as Head of School in July 2022. He came to City Academy from Whitfield School where he was Middle School Director. He has also held several roles in independent schools including the Blake School in Minneapolis where he was a Grade Dean. Prior to working in independent schools, Jarrett worked as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Bowdoin College.
Jarrett is a native St. Louisan and grew up close to City Academy – in The Greater Ville neighborhood. He attended MICDS in middle and high school as the beneficiary of a program that offered opportunities for students who might not otherwise be able to attend private schools. He received his undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College in Maine and his Masters in Education from Harvard University.
