Malissa joined City Academy in 2022 as the 4th Grade Humanities Teacher. This will be her eighth year of teaching. She likes to first build rapport with students and their families before delving into pedagogy. To assist with those relationships, she has volunteered for the Home Works! (home-visit program) in hopes to bridge the gap between parental involvement and community stakeholders. This collaboration solidifies a staunch support system for the whole child.

Malissa is the eldest of seven siblings and is a mother of three: ages 16, 15, and 14. For rejuvenation, her favorite recreational activities include reading, cake baking/decorating, traveling, billiards, game nights, and Cardinals games… GO BIRDS!!
