1st Grade Math & STEAM Teacher
“City Academy students are sad to leave and thrilled to return. Their thirst for knowledge is unquenchable so I am challenged every day to provide something new and exciting to hold them over until the next time they get academically parched… which will be soon.”
Noah Hollenkamp joined the City Academy family in 2012 as a Montessori Math Specialist. In 2015, Noah became the Extended Day Coordinator, and in 2019 he returned to the classroom as the 1st grade STEAM teacher. In May of 2019 he completed his doctoral program for Creativity and Generative Design at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. His dissertation focused on the impact of play and experiential education on early childhood students.
Noah believes in play-based learning, experiential education, and longitudinal projects for all grades. He leads presentations on play both locally and nationally. Noah was selected as one of only 20 national ambassadors through the Genius of Play Grant and will use his research at City Academy to bring play into schools all over the nation. He is involved with the National Afterschool Association, Experiential Education Exchange of St. Louis, American Montessori Society, and the Novel Engineering Cohort at Washington University in St. Louis.
Outside of City Academy, Noah spends time with his wife, Kelly, sons, Arlo and Abbott, two dogs, Kona and Optimus Prime (Opie), and his piranha, Ferb.
