Grant Coordinator

“There is something special here. You can feel the strength of the community as soon as you step on campus. Everyone—the faculty and staff, the parents, the supporters—believes in City Academy’s mission, and most importantly in the students themselves.”

Rachel Bené joined City Academy in 2019 as the school’s Grants Coordinator. Rachel is an independent grants professional with five years of experience in grant writing, research, and award management in the St. Louis area. She has focused her grants career on supporting organizations dedicated to youth development and education, and she believes that providing opportunities, guidance, and support are key to a child’s growth and success. Rachel has raised over $4.9 million in grant funding for area nonprofits, and prior to narrowing her focus on grants she worked in various capacities on development teams, in public relations, and in project management.

Rachel has her Masters in International Business from Saint Louis University and her BA in Sociology and Spanish from the University of Notre Dame. She stays connected with both institutions, volunteering for SLU’s Alumni Association and writing essays published in the Notre Dame Magazine.
