Parent Engagement Goals & Objectives

  1. Promote active engagement within the school community
  2. Provide families with resources to support student growth both at home and at school
  3. Build a school-wide community committed to the mission and philosophy of the school

City Academy Parent Organization (CAPs)

All parents of City Academy students are automatically members of the City Academy Parent Organization, commonly referred to as CAPs.

CAPs meetings are held throughout the year and all families are encouraged to attend and share in the organization’s responsibilities.

Room parents will work together to accomplish the following:

  1. Attend quarterly Room Parent Meetings
  2. Decide on specific classroom activities to promote community
  3. Coordinate monthly birthday celebrations and consider food allergy alternatives

New Parent Education Seminars & Parent Engagement Nights

These classes and engagement programs are designed to address the interests of our City Academy parent community. Parents share knowledge intended to help guide children as they become healthy, proud and capable people, focusing on effective family communication, healthy culture identify, family values, child growth and development, positive self-esteem, and educational progress. Meetings are held weekly, September-December from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and they are mandatory for all parents new to City Academy. Childcare will be available for all programs. Catered dinner is provided.

Parent Volunteer Program

We believe parent participation is critical to each child’s education and vital to healthy communication. Volunteering provides opportunities to develop bonds with the school and other families, while also providing the school with necessary supports to carry out the mission and philosophy.
